A memorial diamond from Eternal Diamonds is a real, certified diamond infused with DNA from your loved one’s ashes or hair. The infusion takes about an hour, you can place the material yourself, and you take the diamond home the same day.

Families come to us for a mother, a father, a grandparent, a brother, a son. Most tell us the same thing: they wanted to keep them close, not visit them once a year.

Who it’s for

What you bring

About five grams, roughly a teaspoon of ashes or a lock of hair with the root attached. If you’re not sure what you have is suitable, send us a photo first and we’ll tell you honestly before you part with anything.

How the day works

  1. A quiet conversation about who the diamond is for and what it should mean
  2. You choose the diamond: shape, carat and colour
  3. You place your loved one’s ashes or hair yourself
  4. The infusion takes about an hour, and you can watch it happen
  5. We present your diamond, engraved with an inscription you choose

The whole visit takes a little over two hours. Read what happens when you visit the lab for the full day.

What you receive

When families come to us

Some come in the weeks after the funeral. Others wait for the 49th or 100th day, Qingming, Pchum Ben or the first anniversary. There is no right time. You don’t need to decide anything before a first conversation.

Faith and family

Families come to us from every tradition, and we would never presume to tell you what yours permits. If it helps, we will explain exactly what happens, in writing or in person, so you can talk it through with your family. Our guide on faith and family covers the questions people ask most.

Frequently asked questions

Is it a real diamond?

Yes. It is a lab-grown diamond with the same crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined stone, graded independently by IGI or GIA.

Is it really them in the diamond?

Yes. Their DNA is infused into the diamond, and you can place the material yourself.

How much ash do you need?

About five grams, roughly a teaspoon. Almost all of the ashes stay with your family.

How long does it take?

The infusion takes about an hour and you take the diamond home the same day. A custom ring or pendant setting takes longer.

How much does it cost?

Our pricing is very competitive. The price depends on the diamond and any setting you choose, and we give each family a personal quotation after a first conversation.
